Span House is located on the award winning Fieldend Estate, designed and constructed by Span Developments Limited, a British property development company formed in the late 1950s by Eric Lyons and Geoffrey Townsend.
The house is set within the communal gardens, envisaged by architect Eric Lyons and landscape designer Ivor Cunningham as introducing “Nature into the man-oriented urban environment”, thereby ensuring “the spaces in between the buildings are not left to chance…where buildings help to create the settings and the settings enhance the buildings.”
We are undertaking a retrofit of this property, which was largely unchanged from the original 1960 built home when purchased by our client. We have undertaken a first phase of works to insulate the external walls and upgrade the heating and electrical system including the installation of an air source heat pump and electric car charging point.
Future stages include extending the property to form a new kitchen, dining room and additional bathroom, and further measures to insulate including the replacement of windows, roof and rooflights.
